The LEGO Super Mario series has been quite a success since its release. With multiple playsets available, fans of both LEGO and the Super Mario franchise have been treated to a unique and fun experience thanks to the Bluetooth Mario Lego figure that interacts with the rest of the LEGO parts. Unsurprisingly, the clamor for Luigi to also be available became loud and LEGO listened. The company has announced a Luigi starter playset. The upcoming set includes an interactive Bluetooth Luigi figure as well.
You will be able to link the Mario and Luigi figures for a one-of-a-kind, two-player Super Mario Lego experience. The Mario and Luigi figures can be connected via Bluetooth which unlocks the co-op mode. Both figures can also interact with each other which adds a whole new layer of interactivity and fun.
Unlike playing with just Mario or just Luigi, this collaborative play will allot 90 seconds to go through the course instead of 60. Mario can check up on Luigi if he falls over and vice versa. Digital coins can be earned by doing actions like walking, flipping, or jumping in sync. Additionally, you can also help each other defeat enemies, complete challenges, and share the rewards after!
And speaking of challenges, new challenge modes and pieces are coming as well. A new time block will add more time to the players’ challenge while a new Yellow Pipe will trigger a new time trial mode. You can even declare your own goal for the number of coins you want to achieve.
In addition to the Luigi Starter Course playset, Lego is also adding a couple of new expansion sets including Bowser’s Airship — a classic stage from the games. There will also be two new Power-Up packs and ten new Character packs.
According to Engadget, Bowser’s Ship is a pretty complex build and took more than 6 hours to accomplish. The ship can be arranged in “flying mode” or “course mode.”
Apart from Bowser’s Ship, new expansion sets include Lakitu Sky World, Boss Sumo Bro Topple Tower, and Reznor Knockdown.
The Power Packs include Frog Mario and Bee Mario while new characters include Galoomba, Parchute Bob-omb, Crowber, Boo, Amp, Torpedo Ted, Bony Beetle, a 1-Up Mushroom, Scuttlebug, and Swoop.
The Luigi Starter Course and Bowser’s Airship are now available for pre-order and will be officially launched on August 1st, 2021. It will retail for $59.99 and $99.99 respectively.
The expansion sets, Power packs, and Character packs will also be launched on August 1st and will be available from select retailers worldwide.
