After receiving a lot of requests from fans, LEGO has finally added a Luigi figure to its ever-expanding LEGO Super Mario product line.
Built with the same technology as the interactive LEGO Mario figure, LEGO Luigi comes with a color sensor, an LCD screen that displays the character’s reactions to movement, and a speaker that plays iconic sounds and music from the Super Mario video game series. Though technically similar to LEGO Mario, the green-clad LEGO Luigi has its unique sounds and reactions based on his charming personality. LEGO Luigi is also a LEGO plate taller than LEGO Mario, reflecting the height difference between the brothers from the video games.
Like LEGO Mario, LEGO Luigi also comes with its own starter course. Officially called LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Luigi Starter Course, the new 280-piece set includes brown-colored bricks signifying the Tower biome that will trigger a new sound from LEGO Luigi and a ? Block designed to offer exciting extra rewards. Compatible with the free LEGO Super Mario app, the playset allows players to earn digital coins in real-life level-play by helping LEGO Luigi complete a spinning seesaw challenge, interacting with the new Pink Yoshi, and defeating Boom Boom and a Bone Goomba.
The LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Luigi Starter Course can also be built, rebuilt and combined with the Adventures with Mario Starter Course and other previously released LEGO Super Mario expansion sets. It is also compatible with the collectible LEGO Super Mario Character Packs and LEGO Super Mario Power-Up Packs.
Priced at $59.99, the LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Luigi Starter Course is now available for pre-order at LEGO.com. It will launch for general sale globally starting August 1st on LEGO.com and other retailers.
