Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup are all grown-up in the official first look at The CW’s live-action Powerpuff Girls pilot.

The titular heroes played by Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault ditch their classic belted dresses from the original animated series for more modern looks, while still keeping their respective signature colors.

Bennet’s Blossom is wearing a pink shirt underneath a hot-pink blazer. Cameron’s Bubbles is sporting a blue tank top, while Perrault’s Buttercup is rocking a green leather jacket over a shirt with a similar shade.

The official first-look photo of the trio was released by the network on Monday, a few days after pictures from the set of the pilot leaked online. In the set photos that went viral on social media, Bennet, Cameron, and Perrault are seen in dresses that resemble the costumes of their younger animated counterparts. Their hairstyles are also reminiscent of the Cartoon Network series, with Bennet wearing a red bow in her hair, Cameron rocking pigtails, and Perrault sporting a neck-length hairdo.

Because of the actresses’ childlike appearances in the pictures, many fans speculated that the photos were taken while the pilot was filming some flashback scenes. This theory was later confirmed by ComicBook.com to be true, with the news outlet noting that Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup are not wearing those simplistic costumes for the majority of the pilot.

Based on Craig McCraken’s The Powerpuff Girls animated series, The CW’s live-action Powerpuff Girls finds Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as disillusioned twentysomethings who have retired from being superheroes after getting frustrated by the amount of responsibility they had as children. Though they resent losing their childhood to crimefighting, the trio have to come back together to save the world once again.

In addition to Bennet, Cameron, and Perrault, the pilot also stars Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Nicholas Podany as Jojo Mondel, and Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum.

Heather Regnier (Veronica Mars) and Diablo Cody (Juno) wrote the script for pilot, which is currently filming in Atlanta under the helm of director Maggie Kiley.
