What is Orphan Black: Echoes?
Though Orphan Black: Echoes is described as a sequel to the original Orphan Black, the former is actually more of a spinoff of the latter. Set in the same universe as the original TV show, Orphan Black: Echoes follows a new bunch of characters.
Per AMC’s description, Orphan Black Echoes is set in the near future and takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence. It follows the lives of a new group of women who gradually begin to realize how deeply interconnected their origins are — despite the fact that none of them know one another. As they work their way into each other’s lives, they unravel the mystery of their identity and uncover a wrenching story of love and betrayal.
Orphan Black: Echoes hails from Boat Rocker Studios, whose Temple Street Productions produced the original series. Anna Fishko, whose credits include AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead and Netflix’s The Society, will write and serve as the showrunner of the new series. Also on board is Orphan Black co-creator John Fawcett, who will serve as executive producer and director.
