Nintendo is about to hit us with another wonderful dose of nostalgia over the next year, as they have announced that Mario Kart is on its way to our smartphones.
We don’t have an exact date and we don’t have details of the game, but we do have a name – Mario Kart Tour.
This comes in the wake of Nintendo releasing five other smartphone games in recent times; Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and Miitomo.
Although all of these titles did relatively well (with the possible exception of Miitomo), it would be expected that Mario Kart Tour’s success would be on a different stratosphere altogether. With the Mario Kart franchise one of Nintendo’s most recognizable products, Mario Kart Tour is set to be the biggest mobile release from the company so far,
The Japanese company will be releasing the game in the next financial year, which is between April 2018 and March 2019.
It’s sure to draw a huge audience and add to the already heightened anticipation of other Nintendo classics reaching our mobile devices. Last year, the Wall Street Journal announced that a mobile rework of Legend of Zelda was being developed too.
