Forget folding phones; at MWC 2025, Lenovo didn’t just unveil a laptop—it unveiled another shapeshifting concept PC. The ThinkBook Flip AI PC Concept is what happens when a laptop display learns to play twister. It features an 18.1-inch outward-folding OLED panel that folds—similarly to a foldable smartphone.

Granted, we’ve seen foldable PCs from Lenovo in the past, but this is the first laptop to offer an outward-folding panel, and we were shocked to discover just how practical this concept is.

A Display That Thinks Outside the Rectangle

The 18.1-inch outward-folding OLED panel doesn’t just fold—it evolves. Its 18.1-inch outward folding OLED display allows users to easily transition from a compact 13-inch laptop to a vertically expanded workspace as needed.

The laptop is capable of several configurations: Clamshell Mode, Vertical Mode, Share Mode, Tablet Mode, and Read Mode.

Need to dissect a 50-page contract? You can snap it vertical for a towering aspect ratio that turns documents into a longer form view that’s great for scrolling. Client pitch? Split the screen into twin 9-inch canvases—one for your pitch deck, the other for their live annotations.

When you’re in a creative mood, you can flatten it into a digital sketchpad that works with Lenovo’s Precision Pen 3, which now mimics the friction of charcoal on textured paper.

And for those who like reading, the hinge even locks at a paperback angle, serving PDFs without the neck strain of traditional laptops.

The laptop’s pressure-sensitive surface trackpad, AKA the Smart ForcePad, also takes things to the next level. The Smart ForcePad moonlights as a glowing numpad, effectively transforming into media controls during Zoom calls, or sprouting custom shortcuts tied to your calendar. Ultimately, the Smart ForcePad morphs into what’s needed according to the task at hand.

Underneath the morphing chassis, the system is powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 7 processor and 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM. There’s also twin Thunderbolt 4 ports that can handle 8K monitors and a fingerprint reader.

While the ThinkBook Flip remains a concept for now, Lenovo has a great track record when it comes to bringing ground-breaking PC concepts to market. For instance, their Rollable PC made a big splash at CES last month when it was given an actual release date after initially being unveiled as just a concept back at IFA. That means the ThinkBook Flip PC could become available to purchase sometime in the near future, too.
