At just 15mm thin and 1.22 kg, the Yoga Solar PC is the world’s first ultraslim solar-powered computer, packing a hidden superpower: a solar panel with a 24%+ energy conversion rate. The result? 20 minutes of direct sunlight provides up to 1 hour of video playback.
But even if there’s no sun available, don’t worry. Even in low-light conditions, the solar panel is still able to generate power, because it can sustain battery charge when the PC is idling.
Part of its innovation lies in its Dynamic Solar Tracking system, which acts kind of like a “solar DJ” remixing energy intake based on conditions. Using real-time current and voltage measurements, it prioritizes sending harvested power directly to the system while intelligently managing battery reserves. So even under cloudy skies, the panel keeps trickle-charging, ensuring your device never fully clocks out.
Lenovo’s Yoga Solar PC Concept prototype signals a seismic shift toward renewable-powered productivity—a future where “low battery” anxiety could vanish alongside carbon footprints. While the Yoga Solar PC remains a concept for now, as we’ve pointed out in the past, Lenovo has a great track record when it comes to bringing ground-breaking PC concepts to market. For instance, their Rollable PC made a big splash at CES last month when it was given an actual release date after initially being unveiled as just a concept back at IFA. That means the Yoga Solar PC could become available to purchase sometime in the near future, too. And unlike the Rollable PC concept PC, this concept has incredibly far-reaching mass appeal.
