Today, HP is announcing their new business-focused laptop, the HP Elite Dragonfly. Impressive at first look, the HP Elite Dragonfly is the world’s lightest 13-inch business convertible laptop and it offers 24-hours of battery life.
Weighing less than 1kg (2.2lbs), the HP Elite Dragonfly is made of an all magnesium alloy laptop that comes in a beautiful iridescent Dragonfly Blue color. It boasts an 86% screen-to-body ratio, the current highest ratio in the world for a 13″ business laptop. The bezels measure less than 5mm on either side and 10.25mm from the top. The display can be configured with three different panel choices. At the high-end is the HP Sure View GEN3 which offers a whopping 1,000 nits of brightness.
Additionally, the laptop carries an ultra-lightweight and quiet, backlit keyboard, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, one USB 3.1 port, HDMI, and a security lock slot. HP explains that there really is no need for additional dongles or a dock. It’s also a full convertible 2-in-1 PC, with 360-degree flexibility, so it easily converts from a laptop to a tablet.
HP also took ecological impact into consideration by constructing this model with ocean-bound plastics, and it’s the first laptop in the world to ever do so. This was done with no sacrifice in its durability, the Elite Dragonfly was able to pass 19 Military Grade tests and undergo up to 120,000 HP test processes.
Internally, the Elite Dragonfly is powered by a powerful Intel Quad Core vPro processor and it can be configured with up to 2 TB of storage and up to 16 GB of RAM. The HP Elite Dragonfly fits the target specifications of Intel’s Project Athena which ensures a high-performance mobile machine.
It also offers Wi-Fi 6, which is 3 times faster than 802.11ac, and it can be configured with an optional Gigabit-class 4G LTE modem.
Audio and video conferencing is made easier with HP’s noise cancellation software that is able to suppress up to 20 dB of ambient noise. It’s also equipped with an HP Privacy Cam that houses a physical privacy switch, plus it offers fingerprint authentication and Windows Hello support.
HP also pre-loaded the Dragonfly with its own well-being software, HP WorkWell, which is designed to help the user balance work and health by providing measurable and actionable data as well as personalized recommendations for breaks and productivity.
To top it all off, the HP Elite Dragonfly boasts of having the world’s longest battery life for a convertible. It currently stands to last to around 24.5 hours on a full charge when used with its larger battery. If you can’t to keep its weight down under 1kg, the laptop’s battery will last around 16 hours. In addition, it’s equipped with HP fast charger which can charge the laptop up to 50% in just 30 minutes.
The HP Elite Dragonfly is expected to be available starting October 25th and it will be priced starting at $1549.
HP has also unveiled their new huge 43.4-inch S430c Curved Display. This is a curved monitor with a 3840×1200 resolution that essentially replicates the experience of having two 24-inch monitors side by side. But what makes it especially unique is the fact that it can accept inputs from two different computers at once, and you’ll be able to drag and drop files from one computer to the other using the monitor. This is a first of its kind feature for a monitor and a very useful one at that.
