The Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10e officially launched on T-Mobile this past Friday. We’ve been testing the Galaxy S10 on T-Mobile’s network in Manhattan, and the speeds have been impressive, consistently beating out the iPhone XS Max.
So far, we’ve seen speeds of up to 133 Mbps down and 51.7 Mbps up during non-peak times. During peak hours, speeds have not been as impressive, but they are still significantly better than what we’re seeing on T-Mobile’s network when testing the iPhone XS Max. We’ve been testing the devices using both Google’s speed test and Ookla.
For example, during peak hours in midtown Manhattan, the Galaxy S10 showed up to 54.4 Mbps down, while the iPhone XS Max was 35.7 Mbps down.
Furthermore, when it comes to loading YouTube videos and web sites, the Galaxy S10 consistently loads videos faster than the iPhone XS Max.
Both the Galaxy S10 and the iPhone XS Max support LTE Cat16, yet the Galaxy S10 is consistently beating out the iPhone on T-Mobile’s network. On paper, the Samsung Galaxy S10 supports up to 2Gbps, but it’s not actually 5G ready. A 5G version of the Galaxy S10 is supposed to arrive later this year. In any case, if speed is a priority for you, then it certainly looks like the Samsung Galaxy S10 on T-Mobile is the new phone to beat.
We’ll update this story as we run more speed tests on the Samsung Galaxy S10 on T-Mobile’s network.

As for software, the T-Mobile variant of the Galaxy S10 comes with minimal bloatware. The T-Mobile app, along with T-Mobile’s Visual Voicemail and Name ID app are pre-loaded, but the latter two are optional installs.
