While Chevy’s cutting the Impala, Cruze, and Volt, Ford is busy at work designing doghouses.

Auto Blog is reporting that the folks at Ford have created what they’re calling the “Quiet Kennel,” a noise-canceling doghouse loaded with the company’s latest innovations.

Using the same technology found in the Edge and Fusion, the team has built a sleek, modern-looking doghouse that’ll protect your canine buddy from loud noises like storms and fireworks.

To achieve such a high level of sound deadening, Ford soundproofed everything from the ventilation to the anti-vibration risers. However, at the heart of it all is the complex microphone and speaker array that listens for and counteracts specific frequencies. The overall structure is made from multiple layers of specifically engineered cork panels.

At present, this is only a prototype, nevertheless, Ford hasn’t ruled out a future rollout. You should check out the video, it’s a really awesome project.
