A Pokémon live-action series is coming to Netflix

An entirely new Pokémon series is apparently in development. And no, it’s not a new anime that will follow the current Pokémon Journeys series. Variety has gotten word from its sources that the upcoming Netflix series will be a live-action series that will follow the style of Detective Pikachu.

The unnamed Pokémon series has also tapped Joe Henderson, showrunner of the popular Netflix series, Lucifer, which is currently on its sixth and last season.

Henderson is also busy handling other projects. He’s currently involved in the development of the Netflix adaptation of the comic Shadecraft which he wrote alongside artist Lee Garbett. He and Georgia Lee will be producing the pilot of the show as well.

You can also find Henderson in the credits of Graceland, White Collar, and 11.22.63.

Apart from Pokémon Journeys, Netflix also houses a couple more Pokémon series including Sun and Moon and Indigo League. The platform’s anime selection is also growing with both old and new titles. Live-action is becoming a trend as evidenced by the upcoming Cowboy Bebop and One Piece shows.

But whether or not Ryan Reynolds will be reprising his role as the voice of the ever-famous Pikachu is still unknown.
