Will there be A League of Their Own season 2?

On March 14th, 2023, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that A League of Their Own has been renewed for a second season. While that should be good news to the show’s viewers, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the upcoming installment will serve as the final season.

How many episodes are there in A League of Their Own?

Launched in August 2022, the freshman run of A League of Their Own has eight episodes. The show’s sophomore run, on the other hand, will only run for four episodes, which has particularly upset the series’ legion of fans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon’s decision to order a four-episode final season A League of Their Own follows months of renegotiations with series producer Sony Pictures Television to lower the show’s licensing fee, as the streaming service sought to cut the show’s overall price tag and budget for a possible second season.

Sources also told The Hollywood Reporter that the cast reportedly had to sign new deals since the new order is for half the episodes that were featured in the freshman run. Additionally, insiders told The Hollywood Reporter that the second season will be called a limited series and Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Prime Video considered wrapping up the series with a movie.

Nothing is official yet

Shortly after The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that A League of Their Own is ending with its upcoming four-episode second season. Series co-creator Will Graham took to Twitter to make it clear that news of the show’s single-season renewal was a leak and not official.

“Just to answer the questions: The stuff that came out today is a leak and it isn’t official, which is why we aren’t saying anything,” Graham tweeted, seemingly shutting down The Hollywood Reporter’s initial story. “So if you want to see more episodes or more seasons of this show, now is your moment. People are listening.”

Fans have gone wild in support of A League of Their Own. As a matter of fact, on March 16th, 2023 a plane flew over Amazon Prime Video’s Culver Studios headquarters with a banner that read, “Renew A League of Their Own #MoreThanFour.”

Fans also took to Twitter to share how important the show is to them and why it should continue for more than just four episodes.
