With some flagship smartphones costing upwards of $1000, of course, you want to keep your phone safe and looking good for as long as possible! ZAGG, a company mostly known for making protective cases and accessories for smartphones, has decided to take things a step further by offering an all-new smartphone protection plan, called ZAGG Protect, and it’s priced at just $99 a year.
With the new ZAGG Protect, you can avail of a phone protection plan that will take care of your device when it gets wet, its display cracks, and more. According to ZAGG, the protection plan covers a selection of old or used phones and will have a low $49 deductible with no complicated deductible structures.
What kind of coverage does ZAGG Protect provide?
Apart from the damage caused by liquid and display cracks, ZAGG Protect will also take care of battery failure, power failure, touch screen failure, camera problems, headphone jack or input failures, audio or speaker problems, as well as connectivity problems involving Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or others. Loss or theft isn’t covered, however, ZAGG may provide compensation if a phone cannot be repaired.
Ultimately, the ZAGG Protect plan centers more on repairing your device rather than replacing it and offers authorized repair centers around the world. Once you’ve signed up for the protection plan, you can take your phone to a pre-authorized repair location, have it repaired, get your receipt and submit it to get your reimbursement. This comes in the form of an ACH payment sent within 1-2 days.
As for limits, ZAGG’s website says that the company will cover up to two claims per 12-month period from the start date of your plan.
Mechanical and electrical failures are allowed and an unlimited number of claims with a cap of $500 per incident. This only qualifies for devices out of warranty. And finally, one on battery replacement is allowed during the plan’s duration.
ZAGG Protect vs AppleCare+ vs SquareTrade
Opting for ZAGG Protect may not be your first choice as other similar services like AppleCare+ or SquareTrade exist, but ZAGG boasts that it’s the only phone insurance offerring with a low fixed deductible and that it’s the only one to offer rewards as well.
