If you’ve just finished watching the first season of the Netflix series Tribes of Europa, then you’re probably wondering if it’s coming back for a second season. Below is everything we know so far about the fate of the highly-rated German sci-fi series.

Has Tribes of Europa been cancelled or renewed?

Netflix has yet to order a Tribes of Europa season 2. But because it’s been over two years since the German show was released on 19th February 2021, a lot of fans think that the platform had quietly cancelled the show. While that’s a possibility, a lot of fans are still hopeful that a Tribes of Europa season 2 will still happen, especially because Netflix hasn’t released an official announcement about the show’s cancelation either.

Although Netflix often takes a month or two before renewing shows for another season, the streamer’s schedule has been badly affected since the COVID-19 pandemic happened, so this could be one of the reasons why it hasn’t picked up Tribes of Europa for a second season yet.

It’s worth noting that Tribes of Europa season 1 managed to remain on Netflix’s top 10 most-watched titles for nearly a week following its debut, and its six-episode freshman run boasts an impressive critic rating of 7.2/10 on Rotten Tomatoes, with 92% percent of the total number of reviews being positive. Both parameters suggest that the series has the potential to be renewed for season 2.

Tribes of Europa season 2 release date

The Tribes of Europa season 2 release date will depend on how fast the show secures the renewal and how soon they can start production. Since the show’s season 2 renewal is still pending, there’s no exact release date yet. If the show gets renewed for a sophomore run early this 2023 and starts production right away, it’s possible for the new season to debut towards the end of the year.

Where to watch Tribes of Europa seasons 1 and 2

The complete first season of Tribes of Europa is available to stream on Netflix. If Netflix orders a Tribes of Europa season 2, then the new season will also stream on the platform.

What happened in Tribes of Europa season 1?

The first season of the series followed three siblings from the peaceful Origine tribe: Kiano (Emilio Sakraya), Liv (Henriette Confurius), and Elja (David Ali Rashed). After learning about a crashed airplane near their peaceful village of Refugium, they soon found themselves defending their home from the Crows. The siblings miserably failed and got separated from one another.

Kiano, the oldest of the three, was captured by the Crows. He eventually became a sex slave and personal servant of the Crow leader, Lord Varvana (Melika Foroutan). Kiano was offered a chance to leave, but he ultimately chose to stay with the tribe. To prove his worth and allegiance to the Crows, Kiano killed his own father. After that, he was officially initiated into the Crows and was given the name Tarok.

Liv, the middle child, was saved by the Crimsons after the attack on Refugium. To find and reconnect with her family within the Crow headquarters, Liv worked her way through the Republic’s military. But when her plans didn’t go as planned, she ended up being adopted by the mysterious Femen tribe.

Lastly, Elja, the youngest of the siblings, became the guardian of the Atlantean cube, the item everyone in the series seems to be looking for. With the help of electronics expert Moses (Oliver Masucci), Elja found himself on a path to a strange landscape where he accidentally had the cube morphed into a mysterious portal.

Does Tribes of Europa have an ending?

Since Tribes of Europa has yet to be cancelled or renewed for a season 2, the series doesn’t technically have an ending yet. In fact, the first season ended with a number of cliffhangers, so the show still has a lot of stories to tell.

Tribes of Europa season 2 plot

Based on how its freshman run wrapped up, the potential Tribes of Europa season 2 will likely see Kiano dealing with the repercussions of killing his own father. Viewers may also learn more about the Femen tribe should Liv decide to stay with them next season. The next batch of episodes may also answer some of the burning questions about the Atlantean cube, including why it was sent over to the Origines in the first place.
