The release date for The Umbrella Academy season 3 has finally been set.
Showrunner Steve Blackman announced at SXSW that the entire 10-episode third season of the superhero series will premiere globally on Wednesday, June 22nd, on Netflix.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 plot
The Umbrella Academy season 3 will start with the Hargreeves siblings returning home to the present after putting a stop to 1963’s doomsday at the end of last season. Convinced that they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed the messed-up timeline once and for all, they arrive home relieved, only to find out that things aren’t exactly how they left them.
Soon after, The Umbrella Academy meets the Sparrow Academy, a version of the Hargreeves siblings described as “smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs.” The Umbrellas immediately clash with the Sparrows in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns.
Navigating challenges, losses, and surprises of their own – and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused) – the Umbrellas now need to convince the Sparrows to help them put right what their arrival made wrong. Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is the new world they find themselves in about to reveal more hiccups in the timeline?
The Umbrella Academy season 3 cast
Elliot Page (Vanya Hargreeves), Tom Hopper (Luther Hargreeves), David Castañeda (Diego Hargreeves), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison Hargreeves), Robert Sheehan (Klaus Hargreeves), Aidan Gallagher (Five Hargreeves), and Justin H. Min (Ben Hargreeves) are all reprising their roles in season 3.
Aside from appearing as Ben in the new season, Min will also portray Sparrow Number Two, an alternate version of Ben who, like his Umbrella counterpart, was adopted by Reginald Hargreeves alongside five other children. This version of Ben, however, has no memory of what the Umbrella Academy is.
Playing the other Sparrows are Justin Cornwell (Marcus Hargreeves/Sparrow Number One), Britne Oldford (Fei Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Three), Jake Epstein (Alphonso Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Four), Genesis Rodriguez (Sloane Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Five), Cazzie David (Jayme Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Six).
The Umbrella Academy season 3 trailer
Netflix has yet to release a trailer for The Umbrella Academy season 3, but the streamer dropped a teaser earlier this week teasing a showdown between the Umbrellas and the Sparrows.
