Has Westworld been renewed or cancelled for season 4?

The finale for season 3 airs this sunday

Westworld, HBO’s hit western sci-fi series, has officially been renewed.

The original cast, which includes Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffery Wright, and Thandie Newton, is set to return still with Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan still as showrunners.

Westworld underwent a rather large creative reboot this third season and is expected to air its finale on May 3rd. With its reputation for having rather long breaks in between seasons, it may well be assumed that Westworld’s fourth season will come sometime in 2022. There isn’t any word yet on how many episodes the next season will have.

Despite the drop in viewership the past 2 seasons, HBO programming president Casey Bloys says that the company has “enjoyed every twist and turn from the minds of master storytellers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy,” he continues on saying that “We can’t wait to see where their inspired vision takes us next.”

Joy and Nolan are already rendering their service to Amazon with a new Warner Bros. TV-produced show. But part of their deal with Amazon is that the pair will continue to helm Westworld as long as it still airs. The series is expected to last for a total of six seasons.
