Midnight Sun retells the events of the 2005 novel Twilight from Edward Cullen’s point of view

After all these years, the Twilight Saga is getting a new book 2

Readers of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novel series will soon find out what Bella Swan and Edward Cullen’s love story would be like if it was told from Edward’s perspective.

In a video message to ABC’s Good Morning America on Tuesday, Meyer announced the upcoming release of her new novel Midnight Sun, a companion book to 2005’s Twilight that retells the events of the series’ first installment from Edward’s point of view instead of Bella’s.

“I am very excited to finally, finally announce the release of Midnight Sun on August 4,” Meyer said in the video. “It’s a crazy time right now and I wasn’t sure if this was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so, so long. It didn’t seem fair to make you wait anymore. Sorry about the bad timing. Hopefully this book can be a distraction from the real world. I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with you.”

Check out the official synopsis and book cover for Midnight Sun below:

“This unforgettable tale as told through Edward’s eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting beautiful, mysterious Bella is both the most intriguing and unnerving event he has experienced in his long life as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he let himself fall in love with Bella when he knows that he is endangering her life?

“In Midnight Sun, Stephenie Meyer transports us back to a world that has captivated millions of readers and, drawing on the classic myth of Hades and Persephone, brings us an epic novel about the profound pleasures and devastating consequences of immortal love.”

After all these years, the Twilight Saga is getting a new book 3

Midnight Sun was supposed to be released in 2008, along with the fourth and final Twilight book, Breaking Dawn. But after the manuscript for the companion book was leaked online, Meyer canceled the planned release. Fortunately for fans, after 12 years of waiting, Meyer apparently had a change of heart, and Midnight Sun will finally be available for purchase in three months.

Naturally, Twilight fans are happy with the news, with many of them taking to Twitter to express how excited they are to finally get hold of the book.

Some fans, meanwhile, can’t help but feel sorry for Edward Cullen actor Robert Pattinson, who seems to have just started to recover from the trauma he had endured during the height of his Twilight fame. People think that Pattinson would again be bombarded with Twilight questions once Midnight Sun was released.
