A Lithuanian startup called GetPet is looking to become the Tinder of pet adoption.
Designed to simplify the adoption process, GetPet allows anyone looking for a four-legged friend to use Tinder-inspired swiping to find their perfect match. Once a match is found, users will get a chance to arrange a doggy date before deciding to move on.
The service, which is only a month old, has already paired several dogs with new homes. While the pool of adoptable pets is rather limited at the moment, the founders say they’re growing rapidly as more shelters discover the app. What’s more, they’re expected to eventually allow centers to help other kinds of pets too.
These Tinder-style adoption services seem to be becoming a trend, with apps like PawsLikeMe and BarkBuddy leading the pack. Undeterred, GetPet’s founders believe they’re in a prime position to claw their way to the top of this bubbling niche.
