Choices for a large-screen smartphone at an affordable price point may seem scarce in the market but TCL Communication, the fourth-largest phone manufacturer in North America, is trying to remedy this with its newest offering, the 2019 Alcatel 3V.

The Alcatel 3V boasts of a 6.7 inch HD + Full View display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 and it’s made of Dragontrail Pro glass. It’s paired with stereo speakers to give you an immersive multimedia experience. It also has fingerprint sensors and advanced facial recognition for its security assets and 3.5mm jack for wired audio peripherals.

According to Eric Anderson, Senior Vice President and General Manager for TCL Communication North America, they “are leveraging TCL’s expertise in display manufacturing and making smartphones with large, high-resolution screens accessible to more people in North America.”

Internally, the phone is powered by a MediaTek MT6762 chip that works in conjunction with a 2.0GHz octa-core processor. It also touts 3GB of RAM and 32GM of ROM with microSD support of up to 32GB. The Alcatel 3V is also powered by a 4,000mAh battery with USB-C charging. TCL is promising that the phone will offer 24 hours of talk time and up to 16 days if on standby. It’s paired with Alcatel’s fast charging technology, Pump Express+ which should be able to give you up to 6 hours of talk time from just 20 minutes of charging time. To further assist in battery maintenance, there is a built-in Battery Saver Mode as well as a Smart Manager to oversee power usage.

Moving to the Alcatel 3V’s rear will showcase a dual-camera system. The 16MP AF main camera is paired with a 5MP depth-sensing camera to provide real-time focus with a natural bokeh effect. It can also capture 1080p video at 30FPS, it has AI scene detection technology that is supported by an LED flashbulb for additional light when needed. Flipping to the phone’s other side will reveal its 8MP front-facing camera and screen flash for taking more flattering selfies.

The Alcatel 3V will soon be available at T-Mobile in the U.S. and Freedom Mobile in Canada. Unfortunately, we don’t have pricing yet but considering that the phone costs around $150 in Europe, we’re expecting a very low price tag for it here North America.
