Early last year, during the 2021 CES, TCL announced that it would be bringing in its first-ever Google TVs to the U.S. market. And that time has finally come, starting with their premium 5- and 6-series TVs.
Google TV unlocks a “content-first interface” which offers users curated content depending on their tastes and watch patterns. And this isn’t limited to a single platform like when you’re watching Netflix. Google TV will collate from different sources to give users an easier way to explore all kinds of content.
For the first time ever on TCL TVs, Google Assistant and hand-free voice controls will be available. Microphones will be available on both the TV and on the remote so user commands can easily be heard. TCL devices with Google TV can also be used as a smart hub where other smart devices can be connected and controlled.
The TCL 5-Series with Google TV will be available in 50, 55, 65, and 75-inch models and will feature TCL’s FullView edge-to-edge glass and wide color Quantum Dot technology for seamless and rich picture quality. The TCL 5-Series with Google TV go on presale starting today.
On these new models, we’ll be seeing familiar TCL technology such as a Contrast Control Zone that allots 60 zones of local dimming for precise color representation. The TCL 5-Series TVs will also be equipped with both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technology.
All models in the series also support common HDR formats including HDR10. Smart 4K Upscaling allows for pristine picture quality for even lower-resolution footage while TCL’s AiPQ Engine uses machine learning to optimize color, contrast, and increased clarity. For gaming, the devices are equipped with Auto Game Mode and Variable Refresh Rate for seamless gaming sessions.
Building on the features of the 5-Series, TCL’S award-winning 6-Series with Google TV offers an even more premium viewing experience.
The 6-series is equipped with TCL-pioneered mini-LED backlight tech that powers up to 240 Contrast Control Zones, along with HDR Pro tech and Dolby Vision. The 6-Series with Google TV will also have a THX Certified Game Mode that aims to improve big-screen gaming performance. This mode offers an ultra-low-latency as well as a variable refresh rate.
The TCL 6-Series models with Google TV will be available in 55, 65, and 75-inch models.
