One of the things restaurants did to survive the pandemic was to scale down their menus to keep only the best-selling or essential items. This included Taco Bell, which had the company take away all its potato products.
The decision came after Taco Bell shifted its restaurants to offering only drive-through service. Not being allowed inside, customers and their vehicles starting piling up outside stores. To help curb this problem. Taco Bell reduced its menu to the bare essentials.
Almost one year later, the company has announced that it will finally be bringing back old favorites like the Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, and the famous Beefy Potato-rito.
The items will be available starting April 15th with the Beefy Potato-rito the only item having a limited-time availability. But if you’re a member of the Taco Bell Rewards program, you’re in luck. The Beefy Potato-rito will be exclusively available for members starting today.
“The return of our beloved potatoes is just the first step in showing our fans the strong continued commitment to vegetarian we are making this year,” added Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s Global Chief Food Innovation Officer.
The call for the return of potatoes on the menu was initiated by a large number of fans. Not just because it’s a popular item but also because the potato items gave vegetarian customers a viable menu option.
