Segway has come out with the S Kids scooter for kids. With the same Segway at its core, the Segway-Ninebot S Kids has been redesigned to fit smaller frames.
The knee bar comfortably aligns with a child’s height and the area pedal is larger so kids can stand firm. The knee control pad is also soft but durable and the maintenance-free tires are able to scoot through various terrain including slopes and small obstacles.
In addition to an exterior redesign, the S Kids scooter also offers additional safety features such as real-time intelligent voice safety reminders. It will alert riders of their actions such as speeding or reversing and notify them when the battery is getting low. Posture reminders help kids maintain correct form.
Parents won’t have to worry about their kids going too fast with automatic speed reduction. And when no weight is detected, the device will automatically come to a stop.
The S Kids offers 3 riding modes to control speed. Safe mode maxes the scooter to 4.3mph, Novice to 6.2mph, and finally, Sports mode which maxes out to 8.7mph.
Parents can also take control of their kids’ scooter by using the Segway-Ninebot app. It allows remote control of the scooter and also access to its light settings, and firmware upgrades.
Despite all the safety features onboard, Segway-Ninebot VP Tom Herbert says it’s not complicated for a child as young as 8 to operate.
The Segway-Ninebot S Kids is now available for $499.99 on Amazon and Segway. It comes in three colors — blue, black, and pink.
