Sega recently announced that gamers in the US will be seeing the second edition of the Genesis Mini Console come October 27th. According to Sega, the Genesis Mini 2 will be priced at around $103 and it will feature a sleeker design and more powerful hardware.
Gamers looking to pre-order the console will be glad to know that a collection of over 50 games, including a handful of Sega CD titles, will be a part of the shipment. Since customers would have to import the console from Japan, you’d have to pay an additional shipping charge of $21.99.
In terms of hardware design, the all-new Sega Genesis Mini 2 is inspired by the Sega Genesis Model 2 (MK-1631). This time around it’s more compact and it comes with a six-button gamepad, unlike the Model 2’s three-button gamepad.
While the original Genesis Mini had 42 games, the Genisis Mini 2 comes with 50 titles such as After Burner II, Virtua Racing, and Sonic 3D Blast. This partial games list should give gamers an idea.
The all-new Genesis Mini 2 features more powerful hardware, a long list of games, including Sega CD titles.
A brand-new title, which according to Sega is a “never-released bonus game” is also part of the collection. The box set consists of the Genesis Mini 2 console, one (wired) controller, a USB power adapter, a power cord, and an HDMI cable.
The Sega Genesis Mini 2 will be available exclusively through Amazon for now. Preorders are available for a price of $103.80, with an additional $21.99 for shipping (from Japan to the U.S.).
