Today Samsung unveiled its upcoming Galaxy S25 series, and unsurprisingly, it’s all about AI, as well as significant improvements in performance, design, and battery life. When it comes to the new AI features, a big chunk of these features are available on-device, meaning there’s no internet.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s look and feel have been upgraded, with its camera taking design cues from the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6’s deco lens style. Samsung has also managed to trim down the weight—we’re talking 15 grams lighter on the Ultra and 6 to 7 grams off the Plus and base models.

Up from 6.8-inches, Samsung squeezed a larger 6.9-inch screen into the Ultra without making the phone any bigger, and it’s rounder and easier to grip than its predecessor. The Ultra is made of titanium and now with Corning Gorilla Armor 2, so it’s built to last.
Here’s where things get cool—the AI features aren’t just gimmicks anymore. Samsung’s One UI 7 has been designed from the ground up to include useful AI agents and personalized AI features. For instance, the new AI select feature is pretty smart—it figures out what you’re looking at and suggests stuff you might want to do with it. There’s also Circle to Search, which can even identify songs playing in videos or help you find that tune you can’t get out of your head.

Search is now more conversational and powerful too; for example, you can say, “Find my photos from my trip to Italy” and this will work on-device without an internet connection. Generative AI images can also be produced sans internet. For example, you can remove an object from an image using on-device generative AI.
And for the first time ever, Samsung teamed up with Qualcomm to build their own custom chip—the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. The result is a phone that can handle a plethora of advanced AI features without needing an internet connection, and while also being super efficient with battery life.
The coolest new AI trick, however, might be the Personal Data Engine—think of it as your own personal AI that lives in a super-secure part of your phone. It learns how you use your phone and starts suggesting routines, tweaking settings for better sleep, and even managing your smart home stuff based on your habits.
When it comes to photography on the S25 Ultra, the device features a new 50MP ultra-wide camera, up from 12MP on the S24 Ultra and an upgraded 50MP 5x telephoto lens. Photos will feature double noise analysis, which means less noise and more details. Also, 10-bit HDR is on by default now, and there is a Pro video mode with a virtual aperture ability for when you’re recording video.
Audio on the S25 also has a neat new feature with Audio Eraser. This feature eliminates or tone downs unwanted noise from voices, crowds, wind, music, nature, and other noises that you record on the phone.
All in all, the S25 series isn’t a drastic overhaul from the S24 series, but a nice refinement of an already great flagship.
