Galaxy Z Fold5
The updated Galaxy Z Fold5 packs in a 120Hz 7.4-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED display as its main screen and a 120Hz 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED display on the cover of the phone.
Having a larger screen is great, but you will have to decide for yourself if the new device justifies the purchase, given its similarity in specs such as the screen dimensions and display to the Galaxy Z Fold4.
Nevertheless, Samsung has enhanced software features that can boost the productivity of users of the new Galaxy Z Fold5. According to Samsung, a refreshed taskbar will enhance users’ productivity by enabling them to quickly switch between apps, and there are smoother drag-and-drop capabilities and optimizations for third-party apps.
Samsung demonstrated how the Galaxy Z Fold5 will support drag-and-drop across apps using Samsung Gallery and the Samsung Notes app as examples, and a hidden pop-up feature was highlighted to show how the new Galaxy Z Fold5 will allow users to run apps in full screen while using other apps as a pop-up simultaneously.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile platform powers the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Samsung is promising users enhanced graphics capabilities during gaming sessions thanks to AI optimization supported by the new processor. Samsung has also implemented what it describes as an “advanced cooling system” that allows users to push the Galaxy Z Fold5 to its limits without the foldable suffering a drop in performance.
The new S Pen Fold Edition, which benefits from the performance capabilities of the new processor, offers new features and improved on-screen writing capabilities in a slimmer form factor.
Finally, the new Galaxy Z Fold5 has the same main/selfie camera setup, 4,400mAh battery size, and memory configuration options as the Galaxy Z Fold4.
You can pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold5 from today starting at $1,799.99. It will be available in: Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream. Blue and Gray colors will be exclusive to Samsung.com.
Galaxy Z Flip5
The major upgrade to the Galaxy Z Flip5 comes in the form of its new, larger cover screen, which Samsung has dubbed the “Flex Window”. The cover screen has been expanded to 3.4-inches, a notable increase from the smaller 1.9-inch screen on the Galaxy Z Flip4. Samsung has taken advantage of the larger cover screen to enhance existing capabilities on the Galaxy Z Flip4 and deliver new customization options like frames and new clock designs. However, it’s still not as big an external screen as the likes of what you’ll find on the Moto Razr+, which touts a 3.6-inch cover screen.
Samsung is leveraging the larger cover screen to deliver more functionality using widgets that allow the user to access weather information, music controls, and more without flipping the phone open to use the main screen.
Users of the Galaxy Z Flip5 can now access notifications from the cover screen, review missed calls, toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth controls, and even reply to text messages using a full keyboard from the cover screen.
In addition, new software features unlock more cover screen functionality, such as accessing payment methods in Samsung Wallet; capturing, reviewing, and editing photos taken on the main camera; and previewing photos being taken on the main screen.
Apart from the larger cover screen, new cover screen functionalities, and a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, the specs of the Galaxy Z Flip5 match to those of the Galaxy Z Flip4. Both devices share the same main screen specs, camera features, and battery size/charging capabilities.
We’re quite dissappointed that the Z Flip5’s camera hardware is the same as its predecessor. That said, Samsung says the Z Flip ’s camera offers improved low-light and night photography.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 is available for pre-order starting at $999.99 and comes in Mint, Graphite, Cream, and Lavender. Four exclusive colors will be exclusive to Samsung.com: Blue, Gray, Green, and Yellow.
Galaxy Watch6
The major upgrades to the new Galaxy Watch6 are its capacity to deliver more sleep insights and the personalized health/workout features, providing health tracking capabilities and insights that boost the user’s overall health and wellness.
For example, the Galaxy Watch6 now provides insights such as total sleep time, sleep cycle, awake time, plus physical and mental recovery to help users optimize their sleep.
Samsung also announced a partnership with the National Sleep Foundation to provide individual Sleep Messages, offering further insights into the user’s daily sleep health. An Enhanced Sleep Coaching feature will also provide the user with instructions, tips, and reminders to improve sleep.
The Galaxy Watch6 boasts a larger display due to slimmer bezels and a brighter screen for enhanced visibility. The Galaxy Watch6 is equipped with a stronger Exynos W930 Dual-Core processor, larger 300mAh/425mAh battery options, and battery optimization functionalities that extend the battery life of the watch. Additionally, Samsung promises 8-hours of additional use with just 8-minutes of charging.
The Galaxy Watch6 comes in two options: the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic, both available for pre-order. The 40mm Galaxy Watch6 starts at $299.99 and comes in Graphite and Gold color options, while the 44mm option starts at $329.99 and is available in Graphite and Silver color options.
The 40mm Galaxy Watch6 Classic starts at $399.99, while the 44mm option starts at $429.99. Both variants come in Black and Silver color options.
