Roku has just unveiled two new products to join its device lineup and they’ve announced the Roku OS 11.5 update. The 11.5 OS update is designed to significantly improve content discovery and accessibility on Roku players. On the device front, the company is announcing an upgraded Roku Express and the new Roku Wireless Bass.
Roku Express player (2022)
The 2022 Roku Express model is a compact and affordable Roku player that now features dual-band Wi-Fi. It comes with a compact remote, as well as support for Apple AirPlay so that you can access content from your Apple devices.
The Roku Express is available for pre-sale now at Roku, Walmart, and Amazon for a price of $29.99.
The updated Roku Express offers support for dual-band wi-fi and Apple AirPlay.
Roku Wireless Bass
The Roku Wireless Bass is a compact and budget-friendly wireless subwoofer that the company claims will provide users with deep bass for a theatre-like experience without breaking the bank. It can be placed anywhere within 30 feet of your TV.
For an optimal experience, Roku recommends that you pair the Wireless Bass with the company’s audio products such as the Roku Streambar or the Roku TV Wireless Soundbar, or their Roku Wireless Speakers.
The Roku Wireless Bass is available for pre-order now at Roku and will be available starting November 7th for $129.99 at Roku and BestBuy.
Roku OS 11.5 Update
The Roku OS 11.5 update includes new additions to the Roku Home Screen Menu starting with a new discovery feature known as The Buzz which allows you to browse through entertainment-centric posts made by prominent streaming services like Apple TV, the CW, and Hallmark. You can even engage with these collections of posts by liking them and saving them to watch at a later time.
A new Continue Watching feature simplifies the process of resuming TV shows or films from wherever you left off by giving you a single location that will lead you right back to whatever you were previously streaming – regardless of the app platform you were streaming on.
The new Save List functionality allows users to store content for later in a single destination for easier access.
The OS 11.5 update will also see new software features being added to Roku Audio, and Roku Voice, with improvements that would make the content discovery on Roku TVs a more seamless experience.
Roku says the OS 11.5 software update will be rolled out in the coming months.
Roku Content Offer
If you’re a new user, Roku will give you 30 days of Discovery+ for free provided you purchase a Roku device. The offer lasts till January 6, 2023, and it is valid for new subscribers only.
