No longer content with dominating just your TV streaming experience, Roku is expanding into smart home products too.
Roku has partnered with Walmart to launch a line of affordable smart home products that include security cameras, video doorbells, lighting, and plugs. The products have also been developed in partnership with Wyze Labs.
Roku Security Cameras
The smart home security products will offer two-factor authentication (2FA), user data encryption, secure boot, and numerous other advanced security capabilities to secure user data and footage from the cameras.
The Roku Indoor Camera SE supports 1080p HD video and color night vision, and two-way audio so you can interact with people or pets in your home and it has streaming capabilities that allow you to stream footage to your Roku TV or Player.
The Roku Indoor Camera 360 SE features 1080p HD video and color night vision, 360 auto motion and sound tracking, enhanced two-way audio, and supports streaming to your Roku TV or player.
The outdoor security camera lineup offers the same features as the indoor lineup but has additional features to complement its use case, such as water resistance. The Roku Outdoor Camera SE is a battery-powered wireless camera, the Roku Outdoor Wired Camera SE supports motion and sound detection with customizable zones, and the Roku Floodlight Camera SE has the same features as the Roku Outdoor Wired Camera SE but with the addition of two dimmable, motion-activated floodlights.
The Roku Wire-free Video Doorbell and Chime SE supports 1440p HD video and color night vision, a rechargeable battery, motion and sound detection, two-way audio, and streaming to your Roku TV or Player.
On the other hand, the Roku Video Doorbell and Chime SE supports 1080p HD video and comes with extension wires, but it has the same features as the wire-free variant.
Roku Smart Lighting
The Roku Smart Bulb SE White allows you to adjust brightness and temperature to match the mood of your space, set custom schedules for the brightness and temperature, and control the bulb with your voice using Google Assistant or Alexa.
In addition to the Roku Smart Bulb SE White features, the Roku Smart Bulb SE Color allows you to choose from 16 million colors. The Roku Smart Light Strip SE also offers 16 million color options, brightness and temperature adjustability, and will enable you to sync your lights to the beat of your favorite songs.
Roku Smart Plugs
The indoor and outdoor Roku Smart Plug SE are the final products in the lineup. The outdoor smart plug features two outlets, each of which Roku claims can be controlled independently of the other. It also allows you to create custom schedules to power on or off your lights during the day or at night, smart energy tracking to keep your electricity bill in check, IP64 weather resistance, and support for voice assistants.
The indoor smart plug has the same features as the outdoor plug but does not have weather-resistance properties and has just one outlet.
Roku smart home products pricing and availability
The roll-out of the Roku smart home products lineup to Walmart stores in the U.S. will start on October 17th.
Pricing for the Indoor Camera lineup starts at $26.99, and the Outdoor Camera lineup starts at $49.99. The Roku Doorbell lineup starts at $79.99, the Smart Bulb lineup starts at $17.99, the Smart Light Strip starts at $22.99, and the Smart Plug lineup starts at $13.99.
