realme is continuing to improve charging tech by leaps and bounds with a 240W phone charging adapter that can charge a flagship phone to full in minutes

realme has been emphasizing battery life and charging in their phones for a while now — at the time, the realme GT Neo 3 was the fastest charging phone in all the land. Looks like realme is hanging onto that title, because the realme 240W charging adapter they’re releasing with their GT3 flagship phone promises to charge the phone fully in just nine minutes. Sounds like the cure for battery anxiety!

The realme GT3 is the same phone as the GT Neo 5 that was released in China not too long ago — at MWC 2023 in Barcelona this week, realme announced that the phone would be released globally under the new GT3 name.

While realme always seems to find itself at the forefront, the battery charging competition is heating up (not literally, we hope!). With the launch of the realme 240W charging adapter and the GT3, realme is competing with the 150W OnePlus 10T, 210W Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition, and the 240W SuperVooc Flash Charge feature Oppo showed off at Mobile World Congress 2022.

Better still, the realme GT3 will come with that realme 240W charging adapter and a 12A charging cable, so you can take advantage of those charging speeds right out of the box. It’ll be charging a 4,600 mAh battery, which isn’t the largest we’ve been seeing on flagship smartphones these days, but if it can get a full charge in nine minutes, I guess we can’t be too disappointed.

realme also mentioned that the battery on the realme GT3 has been certified by TÜV Rheinland, guaranteeing safe and healthy charging and improving battery longevity. Stats from realme reveal that the battery will still provide up to 80% capacity even after 1,600 charging cycles.

Past the battery and charging features, we’re looking at an impressive phone, albeit one that looks a little more late 2022 on the rest of the spec sheet. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and has a 6.74-in 144 Hz AMOLED display. The three-camera array on the back includes a main 50 MP Sony IMX890 sensor with optical image stabilization, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera, with a 16 MP camera on the front.

And, just for a little extra flair, there’s an RGB light ring on the back that, among other things, can indicate notifications or battery level.
