Will there be a season 3 of Raised by Wolves?

Raised by Wolves wrapped up its eight-episode season 2 last week, and while there’s a lot to unpack in the sci-fi drama’s latest season finale, HBO Max has yet to renew the series for a season 3.

Though the fate of Raised by Wolves is in limbo, showrunner Aaron Guzikowski revealed that the plan and themes for the potential season 3 have already been worked out.

“I’m working on season 3 now,” Guzikowski said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published right after the season 2 finale was released. “It hasn’t been officially greenlit, but I am working on it. And quite a bit is worked out. Quite a bit is worked out beyond that, and there’s quite a bit that will change, I think. I’m just looking for the best possible way to tell the story, so every day that changes a little bit to make it better, I think. But the plan and the themes and the point of it all, the soul of it, is definitely worked out.”

Last February, Guzikowski explained to Collider why he’s already working on scripts for season 3 even though the series has yet to be renewed for another season.

“Who’s to say whether or not it will get ordered to production, if we’ll get to that point. But I have to keep working on it because if it does get ordered – we have no source material, so I have to keep writing it,” said Guzikowski. “So as long as the show goes on, I imagine that’s my entire universe. I’m like a method actor, except I’m a method writer I just have to live in this universe.”

Who will be back for Raised by Wolves season 3?

The following main cast members are likely to return for the potential season 3: Amanda Collin as Mother/Lamia, Abubakar Salim as Father, Winta McGrath as Campion, Jordan Loughran as Tempest, Felix Jamieson as Paul, Ethan Hazzard as Hunter, Aasiya Shah as Holly, Ivy Wong as Vita, Matias Varela as Lucius, and Selina Jones as Grandmother.

At the end of season 2, Travis Fimmel’s Marcus/Caleb appeared to have died, only for him to show up floating upside-down in the air above a tree. While it’s unclear what exactly is in store for Fimmel’s character, Guzikowski told Decider that the actor “will most likely be back for the third season.”

Niamh Algar, however, won’t likely return in the potential season 3, as her character Sue/Mary turned into a tree at the end of the recently concluded season.

When will Raised by Wolves season 3 come out?

Since Raised by Wolves has not been picked up for a season 3 yet, there’s no release date for its return yet. But if the series gets renewed soon, season 3 will likely premiere on HBO Max in 2023. And since the series is CGI-heavy, fans can expect the new batch of episodes to come out in the second half of the said year.
