PlayStation confirms PS5 event for June 11th 1

PlayStation has officially announced that the delayed PS5 event will be happening this Thursday, June 11th. This confirmed the leaked information that was previously seen on Twitch ads regarding the event’s new date.

Sid Shuman, Senior Director of Content Communications at Sony Interactive Entertainment, updated the company’s previous announcement to set expectations for its viewers. The post details that the program to be shown on June 11th will have been pre-taped with a 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. This may possibly affect how the next-gen games will appear on-screen but he assures that the games showcased during the event “will look even better when you play them on PS5 with a 4K TV.”

He’s also encouraging viewers to watch with headphones as there’s “some cool audio work in the show.”

“The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe,” says Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, “Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware.”

The PlayStation event will be available to stream on Twitch and YouTube on June 11th at 1 PM PDT.
