Today in Bali, Indonesia, OPPO’s flagship Find X8 series officially launches globally.
After spending some hands-on time with OPPO’s latest flagship duo, it’s clear the company isn’t just iterating – they’re innovating. The Find X8 and Find X8 Pro represent a significant leap forward, particularly in their approach to combining extremely powerful DSLR-like cameras into surprisingly svelte designs.
What’s familiar here is that OPPO’s Find X8 Series is all about camera performance alongside heavy AI integration, which is a trend that most flagships have been following.
The first thing that strikes you about these new flagships is how OPPO has managed to pack so much advanced camera into such refined packages. The standard Find X8 measures just 7.9mm thick and weighs 193g, making it quite comfortable to hold despite its powerful internals. The Pro model, while slightly thicker at 8.24mm, maintains a similar premium feel albeit with a micro-curved display that makes it easier to grip despite its large screen size. Notably, their camera modules protrude noticeably less compared to their predecessors.
When OPPO first debuted the Find X6 Pro, I was completely smitten by its unique vegan leather back finish. The company kept that look intact for the Find X7 Ultra series. But the new Find X8 series offers a much more common aluminum look.
The Find X8 model in particular certainly takes design queues from Apple. Whenever you love or hate that clean aluminum look with pretty sharp edges, it’s still an attractive phone, albeit not very exciting looking. For better or for worse, that’s probably what people want. The smaller Find X8 model is also the one to choose if you’re looking for one-handed operation.
For those who miss the vegan leather design of the previous Find X series, OPPO will offer some vegan leather case options to use for the devices.
Both Find X8 devices showcase impressive screen technology similar to its predecessors, though in different flavors. The standard X8 features a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with incredibly narrow 1.45mm bezels, while the Pro steps things up with a 6.78-inch LTPO panel.
During my testing, both screens exhibited excellent color reproduction and smooth refresh rates that make everything from scrolling to gaming feel incredibly fluid. Like their predecessors, both displays offer impressive peak brightness levels of up to 4,500 nits for HDR content.
OPPO’s partnership with Hasselblad continues to bear fruit. The Hasselblad camera system is where these phones especially shine.
The camera array is particularly impressive, with the standard X8 sporting a trio of 50MP sensors, including an innovative periscope lens for enhanced zoom. The Pro variant takes this further by incorporating dual periscope cameras, offering photographers even more creative flexibility.
A standout feature is the rapid-fire shooting capability, which captures seven high-quality images per second with no delay between shots. This DSLR-like performance ensures consistent image quality across all shots, making it easier to capture fast-moving subjects with professional-grade results.
Like with its predecessors, I have found that it’s incredibly easy to snap portrait photography masterpieces with the Find X8 Pro. The Find X8 Pro is the only global phone that supports optical 135mm portraits. The camera also takes amazing zoomed in shots without sacrificing quality as you get closer to a subject.

Under the hood, both models pack MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9400 processor, and it shows in their performance. The phones feel incredibly responsive, with AnTuTu scores showing that it’s faster than 99% of smartphones on the market right now.
Battery life is very good, with the X8 Pro featuring a massive 5910mAh cell and the standard X8 not far behind at 5630mAh. The 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging capabilities mean you’re never tethered to an outlet for long.
On the software front, both Find X8 devices come running the new ColorOS 15 which is debuting with heavy Google Gemini AI integration, with both the 1.5 Pro and 1.5 Flash models under its hood. This isn’t just another incremental update – OPPO is adding lots of useful AI features that OPPO hopes are going to transform how you use your phone.
For instance, have you ever spent hours transcribing meeting recordings or trying to clean up your notes? Those days are over. The new AI Recording Summary feature will do all that heavy lifting for you, turning voice recordings into clean, organized notes. Plus, OPPO Notes and Documents are getting a major upgrade with AI-powered restructuring and language polishing capabilities.
Another cool Gemini addition is Circle to Search with Google. Just long-press your home button or navigation bar, and boom – you can search anything on your screen without jumping between apps. It’s the kind of simple feature that makes you wonder how we lived without it.
OPPO’s also baking in the full Google Gemini app experience. Whether you’re brainstorming ideas, need help with writing, or want to practice for a presentation, Gemini is available on hand with real-time responses.
Last but not least, OPPO has unveiled Touch to Share between iPhone and Android. That means that OPPO’s phones can quickly transfer files to and from iPhones.
Early Verdict
While it’s too early for a final verdict, the Find X8 series is proving to be a compelling offering in the flagship space. OPPO has managed to address the common complaint about flagship phones being too bulky while maintaining premium features and capabilities.
OPPO has been groundbreaking in several key areas over the past 3 years – design, camera and AI, but their flagship was limited to availability in Asia. So what’s particularly exciting about this launch, is that it’s the first global flagship launch that OPPO has had in a while, which means more folks will be able to get their hands on the devices this time around.
