New on Netflix in September: Cobra Kai, Fate: The Winx Saga

A fictionalized take on the life of Marilyn Monroe also drops on Netflix next month

The complete list of new content coming to Netflix next month has been released and the extensive lineup confirms the much-awaited return of two of the streamer’s most popular original series.

What’s new on Netflix in September 2022?

Returning Netflix Original Series

Cobra Kai season 5 is set to premiere on Netflix on September 9th. In the new season of the martial arts comedy-drama, Terry (Thomas Ian Griffith) leads Cobra Kai into a new regime, as Daniel (Ralph Macchio), Johnny (William Zabka), and an old ally join forces in a battle that goes way beyond the mat.

Season 2 of Fate: The Winx Saga, meanwhile, will arrive on the streamer on September 16th. In the sophomore run of the supernatural teen drama, Bloom (Abigail Cowen) tries to understand and control her powers while she and the other students at Alfea pull together to defend Solaria from a catastrophic threat.

Also returning to Netflix next month is the musical comedy series Karma’s World. Premiering on September 22nd, season 4 animated series’ new batch of episodes features new songs and adventures, with the titular character rhyming her way through bigger challenges and showing up for her family, friends, and community.

The entertaining and surprisingly socially relevant game show, Floor Is Lava, is also set to make its comeback on Netflix next month. Arriving on September 30th on the streamer, season 3 of the series follows 15 daring new teams that fight to race to the top of a towering volcano to win $10,000.

New Netflix Original Series

Aside from returning original series, Netflix subscribers will also be treated to a bunch of brand-new original series of different genres. For fans of real estate reality TV, Netflix is adding Buy My House to its library on September 2nd. In this new show, homeowners from across the United States pitch properties for sale to four experienced real estate investors, hoping to make a life-changing deal on the spot.

Horror enthusiasts, meanwhile, will take delight in Devil in Ohio. Debuting on the streamer on September 2nd, the suspense thriller centers on a psychiatrist who puts herself and her family in danger after she takes in a young female patient who escaped a mysterious cult.

Netflix is also launching a gripping documentary series for true crime fans. Arriving on the platform on September 7th, Indian Predator: The Diary of a Serial Killer revolves around the murder case of a journalist, which was re-opened after a secret diary suggests 13 more victims and possible cannibalism.

Netflix will also be the streaming home of Thai Cave Rescue. Set to premiere on the service on September 22nd, the six-part limited series is based on the true events of the Tham Luang cave rescue that occurred in Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non National Park during June and July 2018, in which twelve members of the Wild Boars youth football team and their assistant coach were rescued from the flooded Tham Luang Nang Non cave system.

New Netflix Original Films

Completing Netflix’s September 2022 releases are original movies like Love in the Villa. Starring The Umbrella Academy’s Tom Hopper and The Vampire Diaries’ Kat Graham, the romantic comedy tells the story of a heartbroken young woman who takes a trip to Verona, Italy only to find that the villa she reserved was double-booked, and she’ll have to share her vacation with a cynical British man. It will premiere on the streamer on September 1st.

The action crime drama End of the Road, meanwhile, is set to debut on Netflix on September 9th. Starring Queen Latifah, Beau Bridges, and Ludacris, this high-octane action drama tells the story of a widowed mom who fights to protect her family during a cross-country road trip when a murder and a missing bag of cash plunge them into danger.

Netflix is also scheduled to drop Do Revenge this September. Available to stream on the platform starting September 16th, the dark comedy film stars Riverdale’s Camila Mendes and Stranger Things Maya Hawke and tells the story of Drea (Alpha, fallen it girl) and Eleanor (beta, new alt girl) who team up to go after each other’s tormentors. Described as a subverted Hitchcock-ian dark comedy, the flick features the scariest protagonists of all: teenage girls.

After appearing in The Gray Man, Ana de Armas returns to Netflix on September 28th for the streaming premiere of Blonde. Based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, the biographical psychological drama film is fictionalized take on the life of actress Marilyn Monroe.
