Mountain Dew releases gingerbread-flavored soda in time for the holidays

Mountain Dew’s new gingerbread-flavored soda has started to hit store shelves across the country.

Called Mountain Dew Gingerbread Snap’d, the limited-time beverage is described by the soda brand as “Dew with a blast of artificial gingerbread flavor.” The Christmassy white seasonal sip has a festive packaging that features gingerbread men, red and green icing, and Santa Claus hats.

“Pop open a bottle and cozy up to a citrusy scene of holiday nostalgia with a warm, sugary scent of fresh-baked gingerbread that’s sure to put your Aunt Tina’s cookies to shame,” read a press material for the new flavor.

Gingerbread Snap’d is the latest holiday-themed flavor from Mountain Dew. It follows the release of Holiday Brew and Merry Mash-Up, which was introduced in the past years.

New York-based twin bloggers Marcus and Matthew had tried Gingerbread Snap’d last month and they had this to say about it: “This flavor actually isn’t bad! It smells like a cola, and kinda tastes like one too, but smoother, with a subtle creamy sweetness, and a faint spice. Couple that with the classic Dew base, and you’ve got a holiday soda that’ll delight unlike anything else you drink during the most wonderful time of the year. It’s still not a soda for everyone, but I appreciate it for its uniqueness.”

Soda and snack reviewer dew_or_die_, who had also tasted the new flavor last month, gave it an 8/10 rating. “This stuff is DELICIOUS!” he wrote in an Instagram post. “The initial smell reminded me of a gingery Big Red chewing gum but the taste is definitely Dew with gingerbread. I don’t even like gingerbread that much but it REALLY works in this. I like this way better than Holiday Brew and probably just as much as Merry Mash-Up (the previous two winter seasonal flavors).”
