The MediaTek Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 represent the newest additions to MediaTek’s Wi-Fi 7 portfolio. With the release of these solutions, MediaTek is offering its customers a simplified alternative to its premium Wi-Fi 7 solutions, while upholding the reliability, ultra-fast speeds, and an extended range that its Filogic series is known for.
MediaTek positions the Filogic series as a comprehensive suite of Wi-Fi chips tailored for various applications, including consumer, enterprise, broadband, retail, and IoT. In its official announcement, the chipmaker revealed that the introduction of Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 is part of its strategy to broaden its Wi-Fi 7 solution portfolio.
This expansion will enable MediaTek’s customers to harness the latest technological advancements in connectivity, empowering them to deliver advanced solutions to their end-users.
The MediaTek Filogic 860, designed for enterprise and retail applications, introduces a Wi-Fi 7 dual-band access point featuring an upgraded network processing solution aimed at enhancing wireless connectivity speed and reliability.
Key features of the Filogic 860 include a triple-core Arm Cortex-A73 CPU with hardware acceleration, a 6nm Low Power Wi-Fi Design for improved power efficiency, 4096-QAM and MRU for optimized data management, and Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 with Dual-Band MLO Speed, capable of delivering speeds up to 7.2Gbps. With Dual Concurrent Capabilities, the chip can handle simultaneous tasks on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, offering flexibility and faster speeds.
Additionally, the Filogic 860 provides support for an Additional Receive Antenna, allowing for even faster and more efficient wireless speeds. The inclusion of Filogic Xtra Range further extends signal reception distance using an additional antenna.
On the flip side, the MediaTek Filogic 360 is an integrated solution that features Wi-Fi 7 (2×2) and dual Bluetooth 5.4 radios on a single chip. MediaTek emphasizes that this chip is engineered to enhance Wi-Fi 7 connectivity for edge devices, streaming devices, and consumer electronics.
One key attribute of the MediaTek Filogic 360 is the Triple-Band Selectable Wi-Fi 7 (2×2), which delivers speeds of up to 2.9 gigabits per second. The chip supports 4096-QAM and MRU, which accelerates internet connections, while 160MHz Channel Bandwidth support contributes to improved data transfer rates. The inclusion of Dual Bluetooth 5.4 Cores will provide a boost for gamers and various applications.
Furthermore, the MediaTek Filogic 360 supports Filogic Xtra Range, expanding connectivity coverage. It also facilitates BLE Audio with Integrated DSP for LC3 Codec and integrates MediaTek Advanced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Coexistence Technology, allowing both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to operate seamlessly on the 2.4 GHz band without interference.

MediaTek disclosed that the Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 solutions are currently being provided to select customers for testing and evaluation, with the expectation that the mass production of these solutions will commence around the middle of 2024.
