McDonald’s is taking its customers on a culinary adventure around the world this summer without leaving the country. The fast food chain announced on Wednesday that it’s bringing four of its most popular international menu items to its US restaurants in June, giving its patrons an opportunity to sample some of the chain’s tastiest offerings overseas.
Dubbed as McDonald’s’ Worldwide Favorites menu, this limited-edition selection of food items is comprised of Stroopwafel McFlurry from The Netherlands, Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger from Spain, Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich from Canada, and Cheesy Bacon Fries from Australia.
Stroopwafel McFlurry from The Netherlands
Inspired by the popular Dutch dessert stroopwafel — two thin baked waffles with a layer of caramel sandwiched in between — this special McFlurry flavor features the chain’s creamy vanilla soft serve mixed with a caramel swirl and chopped-up Daelmans Stroopwafel waffle cookie pieces.
Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger from Spain
This international take on the Quarter Pounder features a quarter pound of 100 percent fresh beef topped with thick cut Applewood smoked bacon, smoky McBacon Sauce, real Gouda cheese, and slivered onions served on a freshly toasted sesame seed bun.
Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich from Canada
Made with grilled or crispy all-white meat chicken base and served on a toasted artisan roll, this mouth-watering sandwich is topped with tomato and herb sauce, creamy mozzarella cheese, slivered onions, fresh lettuce and sliced Roma tomatoes.
Cheesy Bacon Fries from Australia
These French fries are topped with real cheddar cheese sauce and chopped Applewood Smoked bacon.
All items in McDonald’s’ Worldwide Favorites menu will be available for a limited time at all US restaurants starting June 5th. But according to various reports, this isn’t the first time international items have been introduced to the US. The Stroopwafel McFlurry and Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger were actually tested in Florida last year, while the Cheesy Bacon Fries actually made its debut in the US last January. Additionally, a rotating selection of international items is currently available at the McDonald’s headquarters in Chicago’s West Loop.
“We know our US customers are curious about McDonald’s international menu items. Because we are always innovating our menu, we are thrilled to leverage our global scale and offer popular flavors from around the world next month,” Linda VanGosen, McDonald’s vice president of menu innovation, said in a press release announcing the special menu. “We are committed to creating everyday feel-good moments for customers no matter what McDonald’s restaurant they walk into anywhere in the world.”
