Summer is just around the corner, and with the temperatures starting to rise, it’s time to start thinking about ways to keep cool. Luckily, McDonald’s has just released a new frozen beverage that’s perfect for the warmer months. Introducing the McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch – a refreshing and delicious drink that’s sure to quench your thirst and cool you down on even the hottest of days! Below is everything you need to know about McDonald’s newest cool treat.

What is the new frozen drink at McDonald’s?

According to the fast food chain’s website, the new McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch is a “frozen drink bursting with over eight bold, tropical fruit flavors.” McDonald’s doesn’t specify what those tropical fruit flavors are, but according to Keurig Dr Pepper — the manufacturer of the fruit punch brand Hawaiian Punch, the original Hawaiian Punch syrup flavor contains orange, pineapple, passion fruit, guava, and papaya.

Featuring a dark orange color, McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch has a thick but sippable slushie consistency similar to the chain’s Frozen Fanta Blue Raspberry and Frozen Coca-Cola Classic. It is available in three sizes —small, medium, and large — which contain 60, 70 and 110 calories, respectively.

McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch contains Red Dye 40, so if you’re allergic to this food coloring, it’s best not to try it out.

What does McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch taste like?

Since McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch is a new addition to the menu, there are not many reviews about it yet. But Ian K of the YouTube channel Peep THIS Out! has already tried the frozen drink, and in its five-minute review of the menu item, he described its taste as  “very strong, very tart”, noting that the drink is “an explosion of fruity goodness.” He also pointed out that the beverage’s “grit your teeth sweet[ness]” was balanced by its sour notes, giving it “almost a Sour Patch Kids type of vibe.”

Where is McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch available?

It’s not clear whether McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch is available at all locations nationwide or only in select cities, so make sure to select your local McDonald’s when ordering it online via the McDonald’s app. But as revealed by Peep THIS Out! and Chewboom, the frozen beverage is now available at McDonald’s locations in Pasadena, California, and Tallahassee, Florida.

It’s also unclear when exactly the fast-food chain launched the product, but some fans in the United States noticed its inclusion on menus in late April 2023.

How much is McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch?

A medium-sized McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch costs around $1.80. The price, however, varies depending on your location.

Why did McDonald’s introduce a new frozen drink?

While the new McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch is the perfect thirst quencher during the warmer months, Mashed reported that there’s another reason why the fast-food chain added a new frozen drink to its menu.

According to the website, McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch was introduced in an effort to increase the fast-food chain’s drive-thru sales. Mashed noted that Taco Bell has been doing great in the frozen drink department since the launch of the Mountain Dew Baja Blast freeze back 2013. And by expanding its own frozen drink lineup, McDonald’s not only borrowed Taco Bell’s drive-thru tactic but found an opportunity for new licensing deals.

As Ian K of Peep THIS Out! mentioned, McDonald’s Frozen Hawaiian Punch is a bit different from the chain’s usual frozen drink flavors of Minute Maid lemonades and Coke products. So if McDonald’s ends up attracting a lot of customers with this new drink, then fans can expect more collaboration between the fast-food chain and Keurig Dr Pepper.
