Twice the screens for your mobile setup, but you won’t be shoving another AC adapter into your backpack!

The world of USB Type-C promised much, and one of the biggest promises was a lot fewer cables to manage. Well, here’s one way it’s living up to that potential — the Lenovo ThinkVision M14d monitor needs only a single Type-C cable to function, making it a dream mobile second monitor.

Announced at MWC 2022 in Barcelona, this monitor aims to be a truly mobile external display. It’s super light at just 1.3 pounds, and with a 14″ IPS panel, it’s easy enough to fit into a backpack. That’ll make it a handy second monitor if you want to go back to the days of setting up shop in coffee shops, or if you just like moving around from room to room when working from home.

What really makes it ideal is that the Type-C port and cable offers power pass-through, meaning that to use the monitor as a second display for your laptop, you only need to plug it into your laptop’s USB Type-C port. Granted, you’ll probably want to make sure your laptop is plugged in, because it’ll sap battery power big time, but it sure beats needing a second power cable for the monitor!

The Lenovo ThinkVision M14d monitor is equipped with two USB Type-C ports, so it can also be used as a USB hub, if your laptop is lacking in ports.

As for the display itself, it supports 2.2k resolution and boasts a 16:10 aspect ratio. Blue light reduction technology helps reduce eye strain, and an ergonomic height stand is also available for a more customized setup.

The Lenovo ThinkVision M14d mobile monitor will be available in July with a starting price of $299.
