The Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 laptop is ready to accessorize! Lenovo announced the refreshed ThinkBook line at CES 2023 today, and besides the usual hardware upgrades, we’re seeing a new feature in the Magic Bay, a strip of pogo pins at the top of the display that accommodates a number of add-ons. That makes it an even more versatile work machine for remote workers who are always on the go.
Lots of options when it comes to hardware. Lenovo will allow users to configure their device with a 120Hz 3.2K 16-inch display or a 60Hz 16-inch 2.5K IPS panel, up to a 13th Gen Intel Core H-series Processor, Dual SSD up to 2x 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD2, 32GB DDR5 Memory, Intel Wi-Fi 6E, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX discrete graphics — enough processing power to make the Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 a formidable productivity and gaming machine, despite its thinner frame.
Lenovo has included four Harman Kardon speakers and dual-array microphones for improved audio and voice detection during conference calls or gaming. The Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 will come with an FHD IR or FHD RGB camera, both of which come with a camera shutter to give users extra control over their privacy and security. The device also features a fingerprint reader on the power button as an additional security measure.
The Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 has an 80Wh battery with fast charge support, which Lenovo has designed to perform better than its predecessors, and an array of ports: two USB-A, two USB-C, one HDMI, an SD Card Reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
ThinkBook 16p Gen 4 Magic Bay Accessories
But, it’s the easily attachable Magic Bay accessories that have us really excited this year. Most of them are designed with web conferences in mind, which is no surprise — the past few years, we’ve seen no shortage of devices scrambling to accommodate the sudden increase in remote work. The Magic Bay uses pogo pin magnetic connectors, which makes attaching and detaching accessories super easy, especially when they activate upon being attached.
The Lenovo Magic Bay 4K Webcam provides high-resolution video conferencing and streaming. It has an array of features, such as auto framing, auto ambient light adjustment, the capacity to shoot 4K video at 30fps, and an electronic camera shutter to protect user privacy.
The Lenovo Magic Bay Light serves as a light source that provides extra lighting to enhance the quality of the image produced by the built-in webcam. According to Lenovo, the Magic Bay Light can hit up to 200 lux of adjustable and power-efficient brightness, allowing the user to create brighter, darker, or ambient light, as the case requires.
Lenovo’s Magic Bay LTE provides users with 4G LTE connectivity in remote locations or locations with unsecured public Wi-Fi. The device features an LED indicator to display the connection status and comes with a USB Type-C port to allow use with laptops that don’t have the pogo pin connectors.
Lenovo also unveiled the Wireless Dock, an innovative 65W wireless charging solution for the ThinkBook 13x Gen 2 laptop, another machine Lenovo is showing off at CES 2023. The device features a 10W charging pad, so users can charge other devices alongside their computer, such as mobile phones and compatible mice, eliminating the need for multiple cables.
