Jon Favreau is writing a new Star Wars TV series

It will appear on Disney’s new streaming service

First he directs two Iron Man movies. Then he directs the live-action version of the Jungle Book. Now, he is writing the new Star Wars television show.

Has Jon Favreau died and gone to nerd heaven?

Although the answer is obviously ‘no’, there is little doubt that Mr. Favreau is living the dream of geeks everywhere (including this one right here!).

The Emmy-nominated producer and actor was announced as the executive producer and writer of the new Star Wars TV series, which will be available on Disney’s new streaming service.

Lucasfilm film president, Kathleen Kennedy expressed her delight at the appointment in a statement, which read:

“I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform. Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe.”

Favreau has actually appeared in the Star Wars universe a couple of times already – in both The Clone Wars animated series and the upcoming Han Solo movie.

He said: “If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you. I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure.”

The project hasn’t released its name, nor scheduled a release date as of yet.
