Huawei Watch GT is a smartwatch with 30 days of battery life

But don’t let its classic looks fool you, because it’s focused on health and fitness

Huawei Watch GT

It has been some time since Huawei announced new wearables, so it didn’t come as much of a surprise when Huawei announced two new wearables at their Mate 20 series launch event today in London. The new wearable line up includes the Huawei Watch GT and the Huawei Band 3 Pro, and they both offer incredibly long battery life.

Unlike with Huawei’s previous smartwatches, Huawei has chosen to go with their own in-house OS for the Watch GT, called Lite OS. Huawei explained that a big benefit of their Lite OS is above average battery life.

Huawei describes the battery life as “revolutionary” and they aren’t kidding. Specifically, the Watch GT can keep going for 2 weeks of active use and that is with continuous heart rate monitoring. Alternatively, it can last for up to 30 days with GPS and heart rate monitoring turned off, or for 22 hours of continuous exercising tracking.

To help achieve this record-shattering battery life, they’ve created a dual chip experience inside of the watch. One chip is a lower power consumption chip while the other is a high-speed chip.
Combining the two with an AI algorithm allowed Huawei to extend the battery life of the Watch GT. To that effect, the watch knows when you’re not active and adjusts the power accordingly.

Housed in a stainless steel case with a diamond-like coating and a dual crown design, the Watch GT has been designed with classic watch aesthetics in mind. It’s also very slim with a 10.6mm profile. On the display front, it packs in a 1.39-inch AMOLED display.

But don’t let its classic aesthetics fool you because it has also been created with sports and outdoor activities in mind. The watch has multiple sports mods for indoors, outdoors, and a training mode with a built-in coach system. The outdoor mode can track hiking.

When it comes to heart rate monitoring, it’s using Huawei Truseen 3.0 technology which is AI-powered. AI is used to understand the position of your watch and what it’s doing at the moment. For example, it will recognize when it’s on a spot on your wrist that is or isn’t the most accurate.

The watch comes with a health assistant that tracks your sleep quality and patterns. In addition, it’s compatible with both Apple Health and Google Fit.

Last but not least, it comes packed with 3 GPS modes so that it’s essentially triangulates using 3 satellites to provide you with a single precise location.

Huawei Band 3 Pro

Huawei has also announced their third generation of the Huawei Band which is Lite OS based too. The new Huawei Band 3 features a new color display and comes with GPS, sleep pattern tracking, heart rate monitoring, relaxation training, and a long 20-day battery life.

The Watch GT will be available in Q1 while the Huawei Band will be available in Q4.
