Irvine, California is set to become the first city in the US to open a Hello Kitty-themed ‘Grand Cafe’.

Although the cutesy kitty is most often associated with kids and teenagers, this upcoming cafe is unique in that it offers cocktails in addition to Hello Kitty-themed sweet treats.

According to several sources, the cafe plans to accomplish this by offering ‘dual experiential spaces’. Essentially, there’s the public cafe, which has enough seating to accommodate 12 people, as well as a ‘hidden’, private room that offers tea and cocktails for adult fans.

Customers visiting the public cafe have the option to order mini donuts, mini cakes, and other Hello Kitty-themed treats. For adults, the fun continues in the ultra-exclusive ‘Bow Room’. For $55, guests are afforded ‘Afternoon Tea Service’, a reservation-only service consisting of fruit, tea sandwiches, scones, macarons, ‘Chocolate Chocolate Cake’, as well as a wealthy variety of tea.

And while tea is cool, if you’re anything like me, you’re more interested in the bar.

Sources say the cafe will “offer a curated wine list that includes sparkling wine, champagne, pinot noir, sauvignon blanc and rosé by the glass and bottle.” What’s more, Bow Room guests will have exclusive access to Hello Kitty-themed Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, and cocktails including the aptly named ‘Matcha Matcha’ and ‘You Had Me At Hello’.

Considering the popularity of Hello Kitty and the small size of the cafe, one can only assume that there will be a frenzy of fans lining up to get a peek inside. If you’re in the Irvine area, you can maximize your chances of entry by being among the first few guests to hit the queue. Sources say the Hello Kitty Grand Cafe will open at 11 a.m during weekdays and 10 a.m on the weekends, so be there early.

Interestingly, this news comes just weeks after the company announced it was partnering with Converse to produce a limited run of Hello Kitty-branded hoodies, T-shirts, baseball caps, duffel bags, and sneakers.
