Fans will see more of Sheldon’s early adolescent years, as Young Sheldon has been renewed for seasons 5, 6, and 7.
CBS announced on Tuesday that it handed out a three-season renewal for the period sitcom, which will now remain on the network through the 2023-24 broadcast season. This is the second multiple-season renewal for the half-hour series, which received a two-season renewal back in February 2019.
What if #YoungSheldon was an *actual* 90s sitcom? We can only imagine what that would look like, but you don’t have to imagine this— we’re getting three more seasons of Young Sheldon! pic.twitter.com/090Me4qOaA

The latest expanded order for Young Sheldon isn’t really a surprise, as the show remains the most-watched comedy on television with an average of more than 9.6 million total viewers every week.
Co-created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, Young Sheldon stars Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper, a younger version of the beloved character originated by Jim Parsons on The Big Bang Theory. In season 4 of the Big Bang Theory prequel series, which premiered in November, Armitage’s Sheldon is already 11 years old, graduating from Medford High School before going to college via a summer job at the local train museum.
First launch in September 2017, Young Sheldon also stars Zoe Perry as Sheldon’s mother Mary Cooper, Lance Barber as his father George Cooper Sr., Montana Jordan as his brother Georgie Cooper Jr., Raegan Revord as his twin sister Missy Cooper, and Annie Potts as his grandmother Meemaw.
“Under Chuck Lorre’s and Steve Molaro’s deft leadership, this superb cast and gifted writers have truly brought these wonderful characters to life. Young Sheldon dominates the broadcast comedy landscape by over +2.5 million viewers and is the lynchpin of CBS’ top-rated Thursday comedy lineup,” CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said in a statement, announcing the show’s latest three-season renewal. “The humor, warmth and heart exuded by the Cooper family is an undeniable hook for the millions of fans who tune in each week. We’re excited to see what the next three seasons have in store for a slightly older Sheldon and all the Coopers.”
After a three-week hiatus, Young Sheldon resumes its fourth-season run on Thursday, April 1st at 8 p.m. ET. Its season 4 finale is scheduled to air on May 13th.
