HBO Max has released a teaser trailer for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, giving Potterheads their first look at the highly anticipated special that will reunite the biggest stars of the beloved movie franchise.

The 40-second promo video opens with quick shots of the Hogwarts clock tower and the front page of the Daily Prophet that reads “Hogwarts welcomes back alumni.” The trailer then shows glimpses of some of the returning cast members receiving their invitations to the reunion.

Robbie Coltrane, who played Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series, is sitting in a coffee shop when he receives his letter, while Matthew Lewis, who rose to prominence for portraying Neville Longbottom, is seen looking at his back, seemingly wondering where the invitation came from. Arthur Weasley actor Mark Williams also makes an appearance in the trailer. The actor is seen standing aboard the Hogwarts Express, apparently on his way to the reunion.

While the trailer doesn’t feature any of the faces of Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) ― aka the original Hogwarts wizarding trio, a young woman who seems to be Watson is seen walking past the iconic Platform 9 ¾ among a bustling crowd. The trailer then ends right after flashing the date “01.01.2022” ― a confirmation that the reunion special will be available to stream on HBO Max starting on New Year’s Day.
