If you’ve ordered takeout through Grubhub anytime in recent years, you might have a share of a massive legal payout waiting for you. Following a landmark settlement over allegations of hidden service fees, misleading subscription claims, and inflated delivery charges, millions of everyday customers are now eligible to claim cash compensation. But not everyone who has used Grubhub will qualify — so who is included, what do you need to do, and how can you find out if your account is covered? Here’s everything you need to know.
California Grubhub customers may qualify for a $10 credit
Millions of Grubhub customers may soon be eligible for compensation after the company agreed to resolve a class action lawsuit involving allegations that customers were misled about certain charges during the ordering process. Eligible users could receive a $10 Grubhub site credit if they submit a valid claim before the deadline.
The lawsuit, known as Wang et al. v. Grubhub, Inc., alleged that Grubhub’s checkout process could have caused customers to misunderstand the true cost of their orders. Plaintiffs questioned how the company displayed delivery charges, service fees, and menu prices before customers completed their purchases.
Grubhub has denied the allegations and stated that it did not violate any laws. The court has not determined that either side was correct. Instead, both parties reached a settlement to resolve the dispute without going to trial.
How to find out if you qualify
Customers must meet specific requirements to be included in the Grubhub Delivery Fee Settlement. To qualify, users generally must have:
- Placed and paid for a Grubhub or Seamless food delivery order
- Had the order delivered to a California address
- Completed the order between January 24, 2019, and January 12, 2026
Those who meet these requirements may be eligible to submit a claim for the $10 Grubhub site credit.
Customers who received a settlement notice should check the information provided, as it may include a Unique ID needed to complete the claim form. Those who believe they qualify but have not received a notice can still check their eligibility on the official settlement website or contact the settlement administrator for assistance.
How to submit a Grubhub settlement claim
Eligible customers must submit a claim before the deadline to receive any settlement benefit. The filing deadline has been extended to August 7, 2026.
Claims can be submitted through the official Grubhub Delivery Fee Settlement website.
Users should enter their Unique ID from their settlement notice when completing the claim form. If the ID is unavailable or a customer has questions about the process, assistance is available through the settlement administrator.
- Phone: 1-877-522-2081
Customers should only use the official settlement website when submitting personal information and avoid unofficial websites claiming to process Grubhub settlement claims.
Court approval still needed before payments are issued
Although Grubhub and the plaintiffs have reached an agreement, the settlement is not final until it receives court approval. A final approval hearing is scheduled for August 10, 2026, where the court will review whether the settlement terms are fair and should move forward.
