Gal Gadot continues to be the superhero we all need in this time of crisis.
Just a couple of days after telling people that staying home is everyone’s superpower against the spread of the coronavirus, the Wonder Woman actress took to Instagram once again to keep spirits high. But this time, she’s not alone. The former beauty queen recruited several of her celebrity friends to sing the John Lennon classic, Imagine, as a way to unite people all over the world amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the start of the video, Gadot said that she has been “feeling a bit philosophical” as she goes on “Day 6 in self-quarantine.” She also reminded everyone that the virus knows no boundaries, as it has already affected “the entire world, everyone.” “It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, we’re all in this together,” she said.
Gadot went on to share that her inspiration for the video came from seeing a clip of an Italian man playing Imagine on his trumpet on his balcony for other residents while Italy remains on a country-wide lockdown. “He was playing Imagine and there was something so powerful and pure about this video,” the actress said, before singing the first line of the song, which launched a compilation of videos showing a number of celebrities belting the popular tune one line at a time.
Aside from Gadot, other stars featured in the video are Kristen Wiig, Jamie Dornan, labrinth, James Marsden, Sarah Silverman, Eddie Benjamin, Jimmy Fallon, Natalie Portman, Zoe Kravitz, Sia, Lynda Carter, Amy Adams, Leslie Odom, Jr., Pedro Pascal, Chris O’Dowd, Dawn O’Porter, Will Ferrell, Mark Ruffalo, Norah Jones, Ashley Benson, Kaia Jordan Gerber, Cara Delevingne, Annie Mumolo, and Maya Rudolph.
After the series of celebrity cameos came to an end, Gadot concluded the song with the final lyric, “And the world will be as one.”
As expected, the video has been flooded with positive comments from fans and celebrities. As of writing, the video has already been viewed over 6 million times.
