Gucci is welcoming the Chinese New Year with a new capsule collection based on the beloved Japanese manga and anime series Doraemon.

First teased as part of the Italian fashion brand’s Cruise 2021 collection, the Doraemon x Gucci collaboration is comprised of over 50 limited-edition items featuring the popular earless cat-type robot created by Fujiko Fujio.

The collection includes a variety of coats, jackets, shirts, pants, and shorts with Doraemon motifs printed over Gucci’s popular “GG” monogram pattern.

Despite the rather prominent and flashy Doraemon elements that are incorporated into Gucci’s signature designs, the luxury brand keeps the collection true to its roots by having its iconic green-and-red stripes run down the sleeves and side seams of the clothing items, and along the apparel’s necklines, hems, and cuffs. The same theme is seen on the collection’s suitcases, bags, and wallets, which are accented with a rich red hue.

Also included in the Doraemon x Gucci collection are slippers, slides, and sneakers stamped with adorable images of the blue cartoon robotic cat. The lineup also includes a phone case and a 40mm dive watch.

Priced between $195 and $5800, items from the limited-edition capsule are now available online at the Gucci website and in-store at select Gucci boutiques.

As part of the promotion for the Doraemon x Gucci collab, Doraemon will take over Gucci store displays in Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as two of the brand’s ArtWalls in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Recyclable green bags and sustainable packaging exclusive for the capsule collection have also been released.

Additionally, shoppers can scan the Gucci ArtWalls and packaging with the Gucci mobile app to discover an augmented reality choreography with Doraemon.

For those who want more Doraemon x Gucci items, a second product drop featuring Doraemon in an adorable ox costume to pay tribute to the Lunar New Year is set to happen later this month.
