Alfred Pets, a Korean startup, is bringing their odorless, dust-free cat litter, ETICAT+, to the US.

Made out of a proprietary blend of coffee grounds – a well-known odor absorber, seaweed extract, and pulp leftover from the manufacturing process of baby diapers, ETICAT+ is a natural, effective, and sustainable alternative to regular cat litter.

The product is not only odorless, but also clumps quickly, and unlike traditional cat litter, it can be safely disposed of in an eco-friendly way – you can simply send it to a landfill or even bury it in your backyard.

“In the pet industry, traditional clay-based cat litter has been the standard for decades, but these options are often unsustainable, dusty, and ineffective at controlling odors.[…] By leveraging the natural odor-absorbing ability of coffee grounds, our litter has been proven to eliminate 99.5 percent of ammonia odors in under 30 minutes” said the CEO of Alfred Pets, Mike Shin (Shin Han-Kyeol).

In Korea, the company has partnered with Yuhan Kimberly and the Korean government to source coffee grounds and pulp leftover to use in their products.

In the U.S., they have already begun partnering with animal shelters on the West Coast, and hope to spread the word to other eco-friendly, cat-loving US regions.

ETICAT+ will be launched on Kickstarter in October. But ultimately the company’s vision is to secure buyers such as PetSmart, Petco, and Whole Foods, so they can bring this incredibly odorless product to you and your cat.
