The Cartoon Network has started the process of building a themed hotel in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Set to open next summer, the nine-acre, 165-room hotel and resort will be the network’s first. Erik Resnick – SVP of business development – told reporters that his company had been eyeing a potential entry into the hotel and resort industry for years, however, they first “needed to find the right partner.”

According to sources, the network will team up with Palace Entertainment on the upcoming property. Interestingly, Palace owns the near-by Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park, which the company purchased from Hershey Entertainment in 2010.

Those with inside knowledge say the hotel will feature characters from Adventure Time, We Bare Bears and The Powerpuff Girls. What’s more “[h]ighlights of the plan include an interactive lobby, resort-style pool, water play zone, outdoor amphitheater with an oversized movie screen, lawn games and fire pits. Inside, plans include an indoor pool, game room and play area.”

As noted, the hotel is currently under construction and will open in 2019.
