Shaped similarly to regular fries and Burger King’s famous Chicken Fries, they come in one size and are served with a side of Hidden Valley Ranch sauce for dipping. Available for a limited time, these crispy pickles are being offered alongside the chain’s fries and onion rings for a limited time.
How the Million Dollar Whopper Contest inspired the Burger King Pickle Fries
The Burger King Pickle Fries are direct result of the chain’s Million Dollar Whopper Contest, where customers designed their dream Whopper for a chance to win $1 million. One of the winning creations, the Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper, features fried pickle toppings, leading Burger King to introduce Pickle Fries as a new side dish.
What does the Burger King Pickle Fries taste like?
Bailey Fink of AllRecipes.com tried the Burger King Pickle Fries both on the Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper and as a side dish, and according to her, they taste better when consumed on their own than trying them as part of the fan-created Whopper.
“While I enjoyed the Fried Pickle Whopper, it didn’t wow me. Because the burger’s fried pickles are accompanied by pickle ranch and lettuce, they lose their crunch, and the true flavor gets buried in the sauce, bacon, and cheese,” Fink explained. “On their own, the Pickle Fries shine. The shoestring pickles are lightly battered to add a flavorful breading that crisps up for a nice crunch—but doesn’t overpower the salty dill pickles. Served with Hidden Valley Ranch, you’ve got the perfect side dish for any burger or sandwich on the menu.”
Fink added that even if the Fried Pickle Whopper doesn’t end up as the winner of the Million Dollar Whopper Contest, she hopes that Burger King keeps the Pickle Fries on its menu.

Starting November 14th, customers can visit their local Burger King to try all three finalist sandwiches in the Million Dollar Whopper Contest: the Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper, Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper, and the Mexican Street Corn Whopper.
