Chick-fil-A is celebrating 80 years since its origins as The Dwarf Grill in 1946, with its ‘Newstalgia’ anniversary promotions now underway (since January 5)—including new Frosted Sodas, collectible cups with a chance at free food for a year, and more.
The chain will introduce Frosted Sodas and Floats made with its Icedream frozen dairy dessert. Customers can choose from Coca-Cola, Dr Pepper, Sprite, Fanta, Powerade, Hi-C, Barq’s Root Beer, and diet options. The drinks will come blended or layered with Icedream.
Chick-fil-A is bringing back retro packaging for its Original Chicken Sandwich as part of the celebrations.
The company is also selling Collectible Classic Cups for $3.99 for a limited time, with each cup being carefully wrapped so the design remains hidden. Three thousand of those cups are Gold Fan Cups, which are randomly mixed in.
Each Gold Fan Cup comes with a prize of 52 free entrées, and winners can scan a QR code on the cup to claim the food. This promotion runs through July 1.
The chain will also sell Specialty Plush Cow toys for $9.99. Other merchandise, including clothing and accessories, will be available for sale online.
Other anniversary events include the return of Cow Appreciation Day this summer and the revival of the Cow Calendar, which was discontinued after 2018. The calendar will include a digital component inside the Chick-fil-A app.
Later in the year, the company plans to update Kids Meal offerings and release a limited-time breakfast item that is currently being tested. This could include the Chicken & Waffles Breakfast Sandwich—featuring maple waffles, applewood-smoked bacon, honey butter, and a choice of original or spicy chicken—which wrapped up a recent test in select Baltimore and San Antonio locations and reportedly received strong fan feedback. Chick-fil-A has not confirmed whether it will launch nationwide.
